What are the different types of plastic bonding adhesives?



Plastic is a very commonly used material in industries as well as for simple home projects. It is verylightweight and highly durable material. It is also very versatile in nature. It can be used for an innumerable variety of projects and purposes. However, while working with plastics, it becomes a little difficult when you need to stick two pieces of plastic together with glue.
This is because plastic has a very smooth surface which makes it difficult for theregular glue to be effective on it. The non-porous surface of plastic makes it difficult for the glue to glide on well enough to hold on to another piece.
What are the different types of plastic bonding adhesives?
It is because of this that it is important that the right kind of glue be used when dealing with plastic. There are various kinds of plastic adhesives available in the market, so choosing the right one highly depends on the type of plastic being used:
·         Cyanoacrylate Adhesives: These have a very strong bond which means more secure bonds. They stick very quickly and are clear in colour when dried. These are the most commonly used plastic adhesives in many industries.
·         Epoxy: These are usually used in more heavy performing industries. These are a two-partglueing system and their high cohesive properties; make them suitable for heavy work, and even lets it act as gap filling.
·         Polyurethane: This adhesive works well on a number of different materials including, wood, marble and plastic. Their full strength is reached in about 6-8 hours,but it is worth because the bond is extremely tough.
These are just some kinds of plastic adhesives that are most commonly used. Apart from these, there are also PVA Glues, PMMA Glues, ABS Glue, MMA glues and UV curable adhesives. All of these work well with plastics.
