Selecting the right adhesive products for the job
A homemaker, a woodcutter, a craftsman, an electronics
worker, a DIY ist, and almost everybody
faves the need of adhesives at some point of work. It can be for making some
artistic creation or just repairing a broken showpiece. Whatever the condition
be, the need of adhesive is faced by every household, every business, every
company and so on.
But 'Which adhesive to use?' is the question
that can confuse you for some time because there is a wide range of adhesives-
cheapest to costliest- available in the market. If you go to ask a shopkeeper
for which one will be helpful to you, he'll definitely try to deceive you into
buying the most expensive one though it can be useless for you.
Selecting the right adhesive
products for the job
To choose the right adhesive for your job is the most
important thing as it decides the strength of the bond and indirectly, the
durability of the product. So the main features that should be considered for
the selection of an adhesive for your job are mentioned below:
·
Material:
Not all adhesives are meant to be used on all materials. So firstly you need to know the nature of
your material. The selection of adhesive differs from material to material. For
example, super glue is highly recommended for wood, metal, plastic, rubber and
ceramic. Also, there are adhesives available in the market for particular
materials such as rubber glue, which is specifically designed for rubber based
materials.
·
Surface
type: Different adhesives work best on different kind of surfaces. For
example, rubber glue works best on rough surfaces whereas super glue and wood
glue works best on surfaces which are fully in contact.
- Surface area: Use and selection of adhesive depend largely on the surface areas which can differ from large, medium to large, or small size. Some type of adhesives does not prefer large surface areas whereas some bind strongly even the large areas. This is important for Pidilite industrial bonding solutions or for any other kind of solutions and adhesives.
·
Clamping
time: Clamping time is the time required by the adhesive after its
application to get it dried and make the product ready to use. Clamping time
depends not only on adhesive but the type
of material and surface size. It may be from 30 minutes to one
whole day, depending on the other conditions.
Now, before going to purchase an adhesive for your job,
consider the above features and select the adhesive best suitable for your job.
Remember that whenever you use adhesives, even if it is Pidilite industrial resins, you must take care of the area you
use.
